I was looking at 700sps tactical in the fall when they were ~$600 and you could get a $40 back in a rebate... but decided to get one later since I don't shoot rifles in the winter too often and not just checked a couple places... Of course now I can't find one cheaper than $760 and that place doesn't even have them in stock :S Hadled one at Al Simmons but they wanted $899 for it!! :( I know our dollar went down quite a bit. I don't follow rifle trends much but I didn't notice much differece in prices on most handguns (glocks & M&P's are still $650...etc). I don't follow rifle trends much...

So who has the chapest price on these rifles right now?

btw someone told me Remington discontinued sps tact. model..,any truth to that?

I get that! but I just find it interesting how prices on some guns didn't go up much at all.

BTW when did the price jump up? or was it a gradual increase over the few months?

I think it depends on what stock still exists in Canada from before mid October. I am in the same boat with some barrels. I have old stock on hand for less money, but anything ordered today is considerably more expensive.

I know what you are saying. The same thing happened to me with Rem 870 Marine prices. I missed the boat and the price shot up like $250 in 6 months. :(

I learned my lesson and when the cost of Dinosaur juice drives our dollar up again, I'm gonna buy instead of waiting.

BTW, I bought a 700 SPS before Christmas and mailed out the $40 rebate about 72 hours after I got the rifle and I have yet to receive my funds from Rem in the mail. Double :(

I just went with an SPS V for my build. Shoot the crap out of the stock barrel and then I will upgrade it down the road. Plus its cheaper then the Tactical anyways....

I would leave it the way it is if I got the SPS tactical..... I don't need it for a project

SO who has the best price on these right now???? and has they in stock of course

I was going through my used gun websites and checked on some new gun prices. All the remington's were a big increase. The kicker was they had a VLS listed for $1799 I remember when it was 729  I hope that was a misprint.

Lots of things have been on the increase. WSS (as much as I try to avoid them I still end up there to pick up powder and bullets and whatnot) has increased prices on remingtons by ~20%, ruger 22/45 was up $50, a pound of powder is up $5, and bullets have gone up $6/100 for .308 168 amaxes. Kind of hard to swallow when you consider the prices didn't really drop when the dollar was so high.

WSS had the cheapest stuff around before christmas. All of their stock went up in January. Most stores prices increased in Nov/ Dec. Their prices still can't be beat by any shop in Vancouver. I've asked some places if they'd price match WSS so I can give them the buisness, but they said, "No, sorry. You might as well just buy from them." So I did. Ya, OK, so they might not have the most knowledgable staff at times, you should just know what you want before you go in there. Teach them something. At least the sales team speaks english.

I scored my Tikka T3 for $570, now they're atleast $700. Just bought the new 870 Sure Shot turkey gun for about $80 more than what it was awhile ago. I think the prices on a whole lot of stuff went up!!!!

SIR - toolkit $109 now $129. Sling $29 now $40. Recoil pad $21 now $26, ChargeMaster $360 now $440 - all made outside of NA... so making due with what I have. Bullets up too despite lead and copper being a fraction of what they were the preceding 12 months (component costs dropped far more than the increase in exchange rate).

Meanwhile it seems everything is becoming cheaper, cars, appliances, electronics... and all sorts of incentives (even at CT - $10 Cnd Tire money the last two days on purchases of $40). Bicycle components, tools, accessories (purely discretional spending) coming out of the US down 25% (guess where my dollars are going, thats right, titanium brakes cause the 100grams saved on brakes more than offsets the 10kg around the waist - grams bigger than kgs right?).

Am guessing its a supply issue, limited supply so asking what they can... Expect there will be sales soon as people will stop buying and cash flow stops...

Just picked up a T/C Icon for $850 - think that reasonable. Stainless steel, integrated bases, adjustable trigger, full bedding block, overmold stock, centerfeed mag...

I just bought a brand new one from gobals in tilsonburg, ontario. for $719, and they also had a used one in great shape for $650 both in 223. Its funny how a used gun costs more than what the new ones were less than a year ago.;)

I Love mine and highly recomend it. Right out of the box I was shooting under 1 inch groups of a bipod with 55grain sellier and bellot $8 a box ammo. I can wait to break it in and put some good stuff though it.

good luck

People thought I was crazy last summer and fall for spending sooo much on my hobby. I tried to tell em, but they wouldn't believe me. My buddy wanted a 7mm sps ss this year, so I found him a new one last month for $639. I tried telling him it was a screaming deal and he wouldn't believe me. Wait until he sees some new pricing.
