So wait, have you ever fired a handgun before? Remington is a good choice however I hear there are problems with the sights falling off. Besides that it's good from what I know

I am also 1911 shopping and my choice is going to be the ruger sr191. Nothing wrong with the Remington from what I have seen in the stores

Used to have the Stainless Steel one. Build quality was good and tighter than the Ruger SR1911.
Have to get some warranty work done on it due to the pistol shooting left. Gun store adjusted it and was all good and accuracy was good as well.

I have a smith and Wesson 1911 and it's awesome! Personally think it's the best for the money.
Mine is fine other than the fiber in the front sight has jumped ship and got lost.
A .45 isn't what I'd suggest for a first handgun though. The recoil is quite a bit more than a 9mm and more likely to get you shooting with a pretty good flinch. Also it's a LOT more costly to buy ammo. Run the numbers for yourself before you leap.

You could say I have some experience with the Remington 1911. I like it allot, I don't think you would regret owning one, but the. 45 is an expensive shooter. Don't let anybody discourage you, if you want one buy one. I've had zero issues with mine, just wish the machining was as good as my sig, the internal parts could use some deburring, but that is coming from a picky machinist lol.

Shot one of the first R1s in the area, very accurate, more then decent trigger, tight fit. Hard to complain about for the price charged. You won't go wrong quality wise, but i wouldn't recommend a 45 for your first handgun.

My first 1911 was the R1 Enhanced. Love it, reliable and accurate - like it so much I also bought the R1 Carry. Not a fan of GI models though.

My thoughts exactly, work your way up to it.. a GSG 1911 in 22 may be a wiser starter and then take it from there

I know that 9mm is cheaper and has less of a kick, but I like the .45 acp better because its bigger and it's a great pistol cartridge.
We've got a range out here in b.c that you can rent all kinds of handguns to figure out what suits and fits you best , I think some of these ranges that do this will drop the rental fee if you buy the gun off of them ( not 100% sure on this one , but never hurts to ask ) I'd do this first before I commit 800$ on a new toy , plus it's lots of fun ! As for the ruger it strikes me as a nice mid range piece that I've considered buying myself .
