Thanks

the R1 is a traditional 1911 with out a beavertail, a regular hammer etc... The enhanced version has fiber optic front sights and looks like a "racing gun". I have the R1 standard in blue and love it. Great sights with an old look. Hope that helps.

I just got the R1 Enhanced 2 weeks ago......, love it !!!!!!, almost not much recoil than my Beretta 92fs, very accurate gun, very well balance, my first .45acp ....not my last one garanteed !!! :)

Google the 1911 sites and you'll get the comparisons. I quite like the basic mods on my blued R1.
The 'Enhanced' version has different sights, a beavertail, different grips and frontal slide serrations, and I think an ambi-safety(?).

If I was to buy another 1991, I'd opt for the R1 in stainless.

Interesting ... you'd have thunk that it would have been on the list of bells, gongs and whistles for an enhanced gun.

My Gold Cup has a Swenson ambi from it's days of wearing a ported Clarke 'Pin Gun" barrel I used in IPSC. Now it's in deluxe 'street carry' mode with the original barrel. It also has a Pachmayr 'mud flap', mag well funnel, Millet rear sight and King beavertail, none of which are on my R1.

While I really appreciate the goodies on the 'Cup (especially the trigger!), I find I spend more range time with the R1. It's not stock GI by any means, but more of a 'bread & butter' gun. If I could legally pack a gun, it would be the R1.
