Remington R1 Recon Commander

Any thoughts on this 9mm 1911 offering from Remington? I have been causally looking for one of these North of the 49 and it doesn't seem like any one stocks them up here. Is got a stock 4.25" barrel so its not a prohib. I am in the market for a 9mm 1911 commander W/ rail and there doesn't seem to be many options available. I know Remington has been a bit hit and miss the last few years but I haven't really heard anything bad about their 1911's.

I would also like a commander 1911 in 9mm IF the price was below $1,000. I saw a fellow with a cheap one at the range and it didn't work very well.

Londero Sports and CRAFM show them in stock.

I have one but honestly I am still breaking it in. Only a single stovepipe after 50 rounds, which I expect to stop once properly broken in (say 300-500 rounds).

Kopanoak, Thanks for the heads up on that. How is the fit / finish? I have no experience with Remington 1911's and am a little skeptical especially with the $1600 price tag. It sure is a great looking blaster though.

I am happy with the fit and finish. The extra magazines are a challenge to find and Remington gives you a green box with the pistol, but no hard case or even range bag. The quality is there and it is as reliable as expected for a brand new product. So far without any significant issue.
