Remington R15 CS

If I'm not mistaken, the R15 is a re-branded Bushmaster. As such, it's a good quality AR at a modest price. Not considered "Tier 1" (whatever that means to you) by most, however, that wouldn't stop me from owning one. I'd sooner own the R15 than a NEA at a similar price point.

I have one of the first set of R15s into Canada, and used it extensively in all weather SR competition out to 500m, and in plinking out to 900m. I have shot it from -33C to a little over 30C without issues, and have about 8K rounds through it from memory.
It is a really solid platform. Def at the top of my recommend list for those looking for a shooter. It won't please those that look at "fit and finish" though, as it is a shooter.

it does not fit tight? upper and lower? Any machine marks?
I am happy with my Remington r25. I cant complain about fit and finish.
Are we talking NEA finish or better?
Anyone know where I can find the eotech combo for a good price? I think it will go really well with my r25.
I like it because I do not have useless rails all over the place. I think this type of freefloat tube will be just as efective as those running more rails then they can use. I would not be surprised if it is lighter, less busy, more functional.
I use to love rails, but thinking about 80% of them id never use.
Only thing I want to add to the r15 is a pistol grip, my ar flash light. and troy back up sights with vtac sling. What else can I want?
If I want a laser I can get a laser pistol grip or add 2" rail.
I heard it is easy to tap the tube and add rails.

No, I think it locks up really tight.
Machine marks? I don't think so. Even if there were, it is painted to cover them.
The only thing about the tube is it is near bare aluminum, and as such is cold.
I've seen a few for around the $1100 mark, which I was surprised at.
If you want a rail and collapsible buttstock though, then the DDM4's we are bringing in might the way to go.
I like the DD great product, but the camo plus smooth freefloat tube is awesome. Only isntall the rails where you want. Plus 500$ less.
Yes, but not really a kept secret. I have been recommending it to everyone who wanted to shoot comps since they came out.
I like the camo as well. If they were NR, it would work well in the bush.
The R-15 gives you factory free float, a rail, good internals, and even ooh ooh ooh must haves, like a crane o ring, and M4 cuts right out of the box. I thought I got it for a song when I paid 900 when 0bama scare was in full force. I offered to buy all inventory they had at that price, but the rest was 204. To hear about the <600 grabs. wow.

One of the few I regret selling! I had it set up with an Bushnell Holosight(poor mans eotech) and a Vortex VMx3. Bout as cheap as I could come up with but it shot better than any semi rifle I have ever owned. If it wasn't restricted it would have been my go to coyote rig.

I like the R25. Its a DPMS and the fit/finish is good for a consumer grade AR 308. The camo is a love or hate, but so be it. The price is excellent for what this rifle is.
Now the R15. It's made by Bushmaster. I'll say I'm not a fan of Bushmaster in general (ACR may be the only product I someday buy). The finish wasn't what I was expecting. The gas block was pretty bad. I have Russian SVT40 rifles made while Germany was invading that have gas blocks with far less machine marks than the R15 I saw. If I didn't know better I would have thought the gas block was pot metal. Also the finish on the barrel wasn't doing a very good job of staying on the barrel. I'm sure I saw a couple of small chips in the camo as well.
Personally I'd go for a Stag or Armalite before the R15. The extra money I think is worth it. That being said maybe the one I looked at was a bad example? I highly recommend looking at one first to decide for yourself.

dpms was different story. I seen 1 r15 and It was nice. I am gonna check one out next time. If I do not find one I like, I will recreate a r15 setup using a custom build. I like the free float tube, and I think I could get the cammo applied. Maybe Cadpat?
