unertl scopes were the optics of choice at the time 10x. but Hathcock shot a Winchester M70. neither of his books mention him ever using a m40.

think we could talk browning into producing a commemorative M70?

If I remember correctly he was given an M40 as a gift after his discharge from the USMC, but was never deployed with it.

Marketing at its finest. No sights or bases come with it. You'd be paying big bucks for a box. A regular .308 M700 with an oiled walnut stock and parkerized is identical. It's being distributed exclusively by Davidson's, Stateside. Even they don't list a price. Doubt any will get up here.
