Thankfully someone revived the Remington poll, so here is part two.

I voted You DON'T get your moneys worth

for the reason being some of their models are pretty pricey, $800-900, and with some of the quality control problems with these models its not really that big of a bargain.

BUT

Ive never owned a factory m700 that didnt shoot well with handloads after a trigger and bedding job.

Ive never owned a lower priced m700 like an ADL or SPS, so I cant comment on how big of a bargain they are.

Same as what TB said. Plus the fit/finish has gone downhill IMHO. I did own a Custom Shop C Grade before, and that was really nice, but price a new one out! :shock:

custom shop m700's are about $1500-1900

for that much you could build a custom barreled, blueprinted m700 with an aftermarket trigger and stock AND have enough for a new Leupold!

I would argue you USED to gwet your money's worth. I love older Remmy 700's (pre-Jlock).

Now you get a ####ty trigger that doesn't adjust as well, poorly finished metal with more machine marks, J locks on some guns, lower grade walnut than used to be used with crappy eurethane finish. I also hate whiteline and skip-line, so a new stock is a MUST for me.

Finally, as a left handed shooter I find the calibers offered for lefties to be a totally inadequate selection.

That being said, I like Remingtons and have had several older ones - a great buy on the used market, but I wouldn't spend good cash on a new one. :idea:
