Hey Guys,

Does anybody know any Canadian online retailers or Calgary based gun shops that carry Remington stock bearing plate for a 12g 870?

I'm in the process of liberating my 14'' factory 870 Police magnum's synthetic furniture for a vintage set of walnut police furniture.

Any body have an extra one kicking around? PM me if you want to get rid of it.

Thanks,

CCCH

Are they actually required? I just put a police wood set on about a month ago and didn't use one. Fitment was tight and no issues - what is the purpose?

The purpose of the bearing plate is to hold the wood stocks slightly off the receiver to prevent chips in the wood that form under recoil. You'll see lots of used stocks where its chipped on the end...that's from not using the plate.

Well mine definitely is flush with the receiver with no wiggle - but if the true purpose of the plate is to hold the receiver away from the stock to prevent the wood from cracking and chipping I best also locate one. I'm also in Calgary, so if you find a source let me know!

I just went through the same thing recently. Go to the Gravel Agency (Rem Canada), as they have just about everything. Got a new short bolt while I was at it. If you need NY help, PM me.
