Was out the other day and saw these at the store, picked up a box, and went out with my Remington Scoremaster 511 and they are really quiet. I have owned cap guns lowder than these. Anyone else use these often? only problem was the black residue it left on my bolt..

Yup, quiet but dirty, try the CCI sub's, much cleaner and more consistent, or if you want even quieter in a LR shell, try PMC moderators.

And the quietest by far are the Remington CB's. They are incredible, and far quieter than the CCI CBs.

I'd say they are similar to the subs, which is to say not the cleanest. However, they are about half as loud. I'd bet that if there was a little bit of a breeze blowing you would not be able to hear it from 50 yards away. It is about the same noise as a powerfull air rifle. They haven't proven to be as accurate in my Brno, but still good enough to shoot grouse in the head from 10 -15 yards.

I use CB Longs to shoot coons out the cedar trees when they bother my chickens-put the spotlight on them and shoot them between the eyes

I have never tried any of that ammo, gonna though, my buddy wants some, plan to test a bunch of it later in the summer, and come up with the most accurate with the least amount of noise.:) On a DB scale is it required to wear ear protection?

Le Baron's has CCI .22 CB shorts and longs in their catalog, box of 100 for $5.45-$5.90.

I think Cdn.Tire stocks them too but more expensive.

To me they sound like a pellet rifle, so no hearing protection required.:)

No Frank, I'm telling you, it is like a powerful air rifle.

BTW - The CCI CB ammo is MUCH louder than the Remington.
