who wants to have a Smack your target match??

we will draw up a target board printer friendly to shoot at 100yards(I like meters) it will be a one shot per target (ten shots per match this will keep it cheap and fun) first shot cold bore on Center target

no prizes, just a fun match on the honour system what do you RTCC members think??

we will do this every two weeks

.....when it warms up

I still got to get some loading equipment together and work up some loads, but first I got to get some cash together. I'm in though, maybe have a different 'stage' each time. Timed shoots, different positions, ranges ect., kind of like an on going event during the summer. Mmmmmm...... might be onto something here. Maybe we could have a whole new forum "Online Shooting Events", have some one time competitions and some longer running ones for each of the discliplines.

gunslinger

I like that idea of yours

I say round one is off a bench or prone 100yards

the next round sitting with sling 100 yards targets will be a a tad larger

round three standing with sling 100 yards larger still

but keep the 10round limit one per tagert

Cannot forget Bag....

The ''LTR'' or marksman matches we have at Spruce Grove & Wildwood ranges, are maxed out at 300m. 5rds at 100m prone, 5rds at 200m prone, 5rds at 200m sitting & the last 5 at the 300m.

Don't be fooled by the distances, the targets are quite small & sometimes we do a 1rd , cold barrel 200m shot for a grand total of 21rds..

The sitting is my hardest & is the one event I lose a lot of points

I found if you tuck in your support rifle arm tight into your body, and place your hand flat. Where my hand joins at the wrist there is a little groove that forms and you slide the trigger guard against that it makes a nice stable shooting platform.

I say bags are in....I carry one all the time

and the only reason I said bench is there is alot of snow here

and the only reason I said bench is there is alot of snow here

- Lets organise a list of us who are interested so we have a base to contact
- Lets brainstorm some events (online) for the summer, maybe some easy ones for now.

I won't have my stuff together until end of March for shooting but I'll play along best I can until then with factory ammo.

I'm with Skullboy on field positions, bipods/bags are fine if you can carry them. If there's snow on the ground bring a tarp. We should keep the events under 200M since that is what most ranges seem to have.

yeah a ground sheet is good but I will need a snow blower to see the target or maybe I might go prone on the bench??

anyone who wants targets for round one PM me your email and I will send it to you

Rules are easy range 100yards Prone one shot per target small Huns head is your first round cold bore shot, you can then shoot targets in ANY order you wish no time limit and please after you shoot put your CGN handle on it with gun, ammo or load, scope and Temperature and post your targets

there will a 5 round bonus target a know your limits target to so round one will be 15rds max

I will shoot this round this weekend or mid next week

I've mastered a somewhat close idea..1) I use a 1907 sling for more stability 2) I use a similar position in the sitting with a slouch in my back so it acts as a platform thus the rifle not moving much 3) I try to relaxe as much as possible in this posn. & 4) Practice, practice & practice shooting in the sitting til you know where all your groups will be..For me, I tend to shoot a minute or 2 to the right but with the sling it's the other way around but with a much better group.

the TIS M24 sling is great for all weak postions

I do real well in Sitting but AB69 is right Practice, practice & practice shooting in the sitting postion

Elbow placement is critical when sitting/kneeling.You don't want any "bone to bone" (don't even go there..... )contact.

The "fleshy" area behind your elbows is want you want to be resting on your knees.

The TIS M24 sling is the cats hindquarters for field shooting positions. The Leather 1903 slings are also pretty good when used as a "hasty" sling (one wrap around the left arm....).

For rests, Bag, bipod or rucksack (TAG makes a cool looking sniper Ruck with a removable rest).
