Remington Take Off Stocks

[Cow Town Bill]

I often see H S Precision stocks for sale that are take offs from Remington rifles. Are the take off stocks the same as the H S Precision stocks that are sold by specialty shops for $500 and up?

I suspect not---no doubt they are made by H S Precision but probably cheaper materials for mass production.

Anyway, would appreciate comments from those in the know.

They are one and the same. They are really only OK stocks and would recommend a Manners or McMillan over them.

Thanks for your input, Ryan. Why are the McMillan and Manners stocks preferable to HSP. Are they more accurate possibly because they are more rigid? Is weight an issue?

They are better constructed and there are more options. I think there is a new manners out that is super stiff (carbon fibre construction or something) but I dont have one of those and can't say for sure. HSP will get the job done but the others are just a higher quality product.

The HS Precision stocks are really quite OK. The usual reason for selling is due to a chassis / McM upgrade. I sell the ones off any R5 as the pistol grip is 1/4" too short for me and I replace with Bell and Carlson which, incidentally, is to my mind the smart 'value buy' amongst stocks.
