Gotta agree with Remington T-Bolt quality, it's crap!! I shot about 100 rnds through my Mossberg 702 Plinkster and it fouled the barrel/chamber so bad that it took me a 1/2 hour to get it cleaned. I suppose I should have known this would happen since the bullets are lead, after all.

The Remington Viper ammo is good stuff, at least in my semi-auto Mossberg.

no , union of soviet socailsts republiks , red cardboard box, loose pack, black colored case, cyrillic/english lettering-made in ussr - the older guys on this board will know what i'm referring to- used to call it red star ammo- supposed to be "target" ammo- back when they were fielding those tractor stocked 22 rifles with the full lenght 24 inch bull barreled rifles- looked like a barrel of a ptrd with a 22 hole in it

My 10-22 likes Eley Standard. A friend's bolt rifle shot the Eley worse than the Cheap American Eagle.

Surprisingly I find American Eagle to be far and away the best in ALL my .22's. Other than the expensive CCI Minimags, which I only use for hunting. Those MM's explode a squirrels head like nothing I have ever seen before. Amazing to say the least.

Lots of good things about the AE...maybe I need to revisit the 2-3 bricks I keep lying around, "just in case" I run out of Fed 525's....

Thunderbolts are the absolute worst .22 ammo I have ever had the displeasure of using. With my S&W K-22 Masterpiece, leading was bad enough to cause keyholing after less than two boxes. A cleaning rod would not pass freely through the barrel just ahead of the forcing cone, so I had to screw a jag on the end and drive the lead out (with a bore guide on the rod!) so that I could scrub it clean.

Remington Target ammo is no better. As far as I can tell, it is nothing but a standard velocity version of Thunderbolt.

My preferred inexpensive .22 ammo is either Winchester 333 or Dynapoint. I can get them for less than $20/500, they are copper plated, and will consistently make dime-sized groups at 50 yards from my heavy-barreled 10/22.
