remington titanium accuracy?

Mine shot "Factory" loads pretty good for an out of the box, whippy barrel, stiff triggered, lightweight Hunting rifle:)
(about 1-1/2"-2" groups averaged)
It however really began to shine with a trigger job, barrel floated, J-lock firing pin, spring and shroud changed for a "pre" J-lock assembly, and some careful Reloads.
Now it shoots under an inch with just about anything but really likes the Nosler 125 Partitions.
The sky is the limit as far as Mods go....it's a 700 afterall, tons of options out there.
I'm very Happy with mine and at 6lbs even with scope and rings so is my back

I experienced almost identical results to Will, once all the upgrades were done it shot 1 moa. I found it hard to hold a really light weight rifle steady. I could actually see my pulse in the way the rifle moved, so sold it going back to a heavy rifle.
Was nice to carry, but if you can't hit what is aimed at with it, why carry it in the 1st place?

out of the box my 30-06 didnt shoot terrific, but useable for hunting. I think my first trip to the range yielded a 2" avg for 3 shots, using 150 gr Scirroco's (only time Ive shot that bullet). Best 3 shot was 1.2" with that bullet.

This spring I had Bullcoon bed it in a laminate mtn rifle stock and it will now print 3 shot groups with 168 gr Barnes TSX averaging .75" at 100 yards. Smallest has been .4"

I use Lapua brass and Federal 210M bench primers, H4350 powder

cant complain about accuracy too much, although recently my gun started shooting 2" +, so I cleaned it up real good with WipeOut, and now its all good :D

my last 2 shots on paper with my Ti would be the target on the right, shot at 340 yards with the 168 X bullet

thanks for the info...when you say bed it are you talking just the camber area or the whole action?

is there something wrong with the factory j-lock firing pin? so far as the shroud, i plan on replacing it with an aluminum one

I originally didn't know there was a diff ? This was my 1st 700 at the time.
I changed just the shroud at 1st but later was "educated" by some knowledeable folks that the Firing pin and spring assemblies are different as well. The "old" and now "new" style:rolleyes: pin and spring are nice and straight, even when the spring is compressed. The J-lock spring is longer and bulges out everywhere, especially when compressed.
Here's a pic that shows the difference.

The J style drags on the inside of the bolt body...some claim faster lock times etc. with the "Original" type ?
Who knows.......I changed mine just because I didn't like the way the spring dragged inside the bolt body.
The Original spring and pin assembly is much smoother:cool:
Make a diff for reliability ? ...probably not;)
