Remington Trigger Problems

I took the trigger out of my rem 700. Having a hell of a time breaking the three
screws loose on the trigger itself. Tried force, solvent, and finally heated the
allen wrench up while in allen key. Nothing will break these damn keys loose.
Tomorrow going to try battery acid to melt whatever Remington used to keep
these keys tight. Does anybody have any other suggestions? Thanks in
advance.
 
tap them first... especially with any sortof allen head bolt.
best thing is to use a small allen socket and give it a few taps with a hammer. this is both to properly seat it in the screw head so you dont strip it, and also to help loosen a seized screw.

in fact this should be common practice when working with allen head bolts anyway, since the likelihood of stripping them is dramatically reduced if you tap the socket in first.
 
i really wish companies would switch completely to Torx head fasteners.
Allen bolts suck, they should have started phasing them out the day Torx hit the mainstream.

if its truly superglue, acetone wont touch it once its cured. believe me, ive tried my g/f's acetone nail polish remover many, many times on cured superglue and it does nothing.
 
When, I was building RC planes, you can get the glue release agent in a small bottle. Its designed to release the model superglues. Or if you glue your fingers together. You local hobby shop should carry it.
 
Hmm just a thought here...but what would happen if you took a small micro torch and hit the fastener directly with the heat??I havent played with a new remington trigger yet as all of mine are the old 700 triggers...are they still using aluminum bodies for the triggers??
If it is still a aluminum trigger body with a steel fastener the heat transfer is gonna be different and it should break loose rather easily...just a thought...
 
almuinum body with steel fasteners? i wonder if corrosion has set in ... 2 disimilar metals sometimes causes corrosion.
 
Remington trigger update

Red house was right. Remington does use some type of superglue on allen
screws so you cant adjust their triggers. The only thing that breaks them
free is about 5 seconds of heat from a propane torch. Heat each screw at
a time and turn out with allen wrench. You should take trigger assenbly
out of gun first.

Go to Lee Valley Tools, they have a solvent for superglues.
