Hey guys!

I bought 1K of these UMC .55gr in the .223
Yesterday, I had some problem/jam of the rifle 3 times with these simply that when chambering, the bullet setback in the case as you can see in the picture.

I also had some Federal .55gr that never fail with the same rifle.
So am just wondering if I had a bad lot where the canelure is not strong enough. I understand the rifle might be hard to push on the feeding ramp since there is a dent on the tip of these bullet, but still...

Did you guys had that problem with Remington recently?

I will monitor the mag but since there was no problem with the Federal I doubt.
Thanks for letting me know!

the UMC stuff sometimes JAM's in my AR's too. One feeds while the other spent doesnt eject, I get the "double penitration" :p
besides feeding and ejection problems.. Ive never seen THAT before..

edit; if this stuff starts to JAM when the zombies come. We're in big doo doo.

I just got back from shooting a few rounds out of my SL8.I was shooting Federal 55 FMJ and 2 out of the first box of 20 did not have the bullet crimped enough and the same thing happened.Ammo is getting more expensive and becoming ####tier:mad:

i'm guessing this was in an AR? it looks like there is a hollow point varmint type bullet in there? we had the same problem with that type of bullet as the flat of the hollowpoint gets caught on the feed ramp/magazine meeting point

basically stuck with FMJ or "tipped" bullets from that point on....

The lack of accuracy of this stuff is what really perturbs me. It grouping around 2 inches at 100 yards in my Rem 788 where the winchester white box USA is about 1/2 that group size. Problem is I have not been able to find that white box for 6 months wheras this UMC stuff is everywhere. I just bought a yellow box bulk pak of it...200 rounds for $89.99

A few years ago it was shooting one hole hundred yard groups - The last couple of thousand I have used recently sux - Good blasting ammo - no more bench rest - the production dies of this last batch are worn

WHO DID YOU BUY IT FROM.

THANKS

Hi guys...just had the same problem as ETHO with this Remington Syte in my rifle that feeds everything 100%. One round had the bullet push back into the case...bad crimps most likely? I've tried five other brands in my rifle and ZERO issues before getting sucked into buying this stuff cheap...the accuracy of this stuff sucks b@lls as well....

Rant OFF!!!!

Ditto.

I shoot UMC in .303 and .308, while I haven't had any of the same reliabilty problems with the .308 in my M-14S, the accuracy is terrible in both calibres in all of my rifles. So I can only assume that it's going to suck for most other calibres as well.

Now that the price of UMC in .303 has gone from $15 to $20 (what I used to pay for Winchester silver box and Remington Core-Lockts) I'm getting into reloading.

Higher prices for crappier ammo? No thanks.

What is the lot number?

And yes I still have a bunch of this crap to shoot :bangHead:.
Will buy only AE next time since I never experience any failure with this round in my life.

I believe I had two more jam since the first post with this f*** sh** ammo. It never stop when using American Eagle :D

I'm having the same problem with the AE.Happened in Tavor and SL8

Your only recourse is to pull the bullet & powder, resize, then reseat, or just try the crimp die as previously suggested. Both of which are a wee bit labor intensive.

Sorry dude.

Just took a look. Ours is 04 production (05-04). I've been quite happy with this ammo. We put a lot of it aside for function testing/sighting. Down to about 600rnds. It's not particularly hot, but it seems reasonably accurate/repeatable.

For whats on the shelves out this way now, I think the AE 223 50HP shoots very accurately. Have not tried it beyond 200m. Crimped bullet/primer.

I'm looking forward to shooting some of the PMC.
