Just picked up some 40S&W 180gr MC. Anyone have any experience with this ammo?

I'm shooting a steel match this weekend that forbids FMJ by club rules. Only plated ammo. Not sure if this meets those requirements.

any of the umc stuff in green boxes have never given me any trouble in 9mm, 45acl, 38spl and 357mag. but i'm pretty sure they are FMJ, pull a bullet and cut it in half.
although if you see lead at the base when you pull a bullet, it's a FMJ.

I've used Rem UMC in the yellow bonus box many times without issue. However I think it is FMJ and can't find info to the contrary. That's pretty expensive stuff for Steel Challenge. I shoot matches in the US but most often use rimfire as the round count in SC can make you poor fast if you don't reload. It's probably too late but I use Wolf reloads in lead. See if you can get some. If you were in my area I'd make you a loan.

If you are not totally against running hand loads, and are in a pickle, I can give you some 40 S&W reloads that make production minor ( I believe they are 180gr. Plated over 4.5 grains of Tightgroup)

A knife can usually cut through the copper plating if you want to check how thick it is. If you can't easily get through the copper it's probably a proper FMJ.
