Remington values since bankruptcy

Nothing wrong with the 722 257R, 760 30-06 and 700 35 Whelan that I have. That trigger issue was only an issue if you adjusted the pull too light. I had it on the 722. Why they waited so long to change it I don't know.

Good news. Sounds like they are cherry picking the employees they want back. Don't blame them. The union leaders must be pretty dumb not to see whats happening.

Yes good news. Rumour is they are going to restart making 870 shotguns for now. Maybe that explains the reduced staff needed.

When they start making rifles again I wonder if they'll begin with the 700 or just the 783. I'm given to understand that the 783 was making them a lot of profit.
Although it's ugly as sin, the 783 compact in .243 I bought for my daughter shoots under 3/4" at 100 yards with factory loads. Better with handloads.
My three 700's (mountain rifles) are each sub MOA, but not to 0.75MOA. They sure look nicer, though. And are way lighter.

If the 783 has been making more profit recently than the 700, as much as gun people don't like it, we'll see the 783 come to the stores before the 700.

I love my beautifully artisan crafted vintage Remingtons ! True collectors pieces!

I hope they get back to production soon. I’ve always been a Winchester guy, so Remington isn’t a big deal to me, but they have a long history with some decent firearms (wingmaster,760/7600) and I shot a lot of ducks with my first shotgun the old 870 express so in have some fond memories. It’d be nice to see them back to business!

Sorry for the late reply to your post , Thank You !

You can't tell the exact date of Remington model 700's by the serial number,
you need the barrel date code for that, that's the two letter stamp at the rear of the barrel on the left side.

but the letter prefix in the serial number will get you within a few years.

Before the mid 1970's - no letter prefix in the serial number.
Starting around 1970 - "A" prefix.
Starting around 1980 - "B" prefix.
Starting around 1985 - "C" prefix.
Starting around 1990 - "D" prefix.

Sometime after the year 2000, I've seen "RR" and "XX" prefix's in the serial numbers.

They would be wise to drop the 700sps line forever, and stick with the mid level and premium grades on the 700. 783 is budget so minimal overlap makes the most sense
