Remington values since bankruptcy

Remington has built some of the greatest firearms of all time. Let’s hope the new owners revitalize the company and get it back to where it once was.

Absolutely ! they did and Hopefully will again ! RJ

Remington model 7 is one of my favourite all time rifles, the pump shotguns and rifles are great.

Lots of 700s on the market and with all the aftermarket accessories and support I don’t see their value going up or down with anything but general trends in prices

I'm waiting for retailers to do clearance sales. The product in stock no longer has warranty or anyone standing behind it, so it should be selling for peanuts. I am mostly interested in ammo, I didn't care for their rifles other than Bushmaster.

Most manufacturers will never build the number of firearms that remington has put out, for a reason. But I hope the prices fall way off. I think I can find some room for a few more ....

You will wait forever. Warranty is handled by approved shop, importer or the retailer that service those rifle. Not much going wrong with a bolt action or a Rem 870.

Remington have been out for some time and no ‘peanut’ sale have happened or will happen. There is just too much demand for guns in general and many will pay what is asked for to get a Remington be a 700 or a 870. Scarce model will fetch more money than MSRP.

My guess is Remington will be back producing guns quite fast. It just make sense for the buyer -investors to re-organize and get money rolling their way.

Look at Ruger for the Marlin line..they will be back in production next year. I have not seen flash Marlin sale at peanut price for that brand either.

As for ammo - there is too much demand for ‘sale’. People who like or have a rifle that like Remington ammo with snatch the last boxes at asking price. They are mostly gone in shop around my area.

Bushmaster are now prohib offering...

Look at used gun..nobody let it’s Remington or Marlin go for peanuts..

Ammunition sale - that's a laugh. The US just had an election so as far as export goes the market will be short of firearms and ammo for the next couple of years...

Could someone remind me how to tell the Remington manufacture date by serial number ?
Thank You
Leavenworth

You can't tell the exact date of Remington model 700's by the serial number,
you need the barrel date code for that, that's the two letter stamp at the rear of the barrel on the left side.

but the letter prefix in the serial number will get you within a few years.

Before the mid 1970's - no letter prefix in the serial number.
Starting around 1970 - "A" prefix.
Starting around 1980 - "B" prefix.
Starting around 1985 - "C" prefix.
Starting around 1990 - "D" prefix.

Sometime after the year 2000, I've seen "RR" and "XX" prefix's in the serial numbers.

All bushmaster rifles are not prohib and no entity is taking care of any warranty/liability in relation to their ammunition if there is an issue that results in injury or death.

I don't want a Remington firearm or a marlin.

I think serial number 96027 must be close to the first year of production... it has that little top cut out on the rear of the action.

It shoots factory ammo into 1/2 to 3/4 inch groups.
