Remington VTR

My brother has one in .308. It (and he) shoots very well, even with the cheapest Win silver box ammo. Also, two individuals I work with have them (in .204 and .223), and they are both very happy with the accuracy they are getting.

On average they are perfectly adequate for you purposes. the piss-off with all factory guns is that some shoot extremely well, some are poor and most are quite adequate. Unfortunately you can't try before you buy. This is true of ALL brands.

The VTR is infinitely upgradable if you want to turn it into a precision rifle later.
