Hi everyone thanks for the help, it seems the consensus on date is may 1964 which is kinda cool as that would likely be an original barrel. As to value I too have been trying to find another one with VR mod choke for sale with no luck even on the big US sites. So if anyone sees one at a show please let me know. Still would like to hear anyone else's opinion on value.
Show??? Maybe I guess just like a 16ga remington 870 factory skeet I have been trying to find to complete a collection for like 40 years now.
I am over 50 years playing with these remingtons and never had my hands on a 1148 with a mod choke in 410 , full yes , skeet yes. Add and I don't know how many years struff55 has been around guns but it seems another long tine and he has not seen one so you can figure out the rest
I think you have enough replys to know what it is worth but that being said rare or worth doesn't mean anything if no one wants it and very few are into 11-48's
Personally I would say that is your problem selling it especially in canada state side would be different.
It may be rare but who is going to put up some serious cash for a 1148 in 410 not even me , not even mod choke and I love unique remingtons.
You have to remember we are getting in the cash range here of a brand new 410 1100 so what would most buyers do and fully understandable. Example where does one find parts for it if you need them and if it is used enough you will eventually
The person IMO that buys it is not for an investment or a collectable but to use hunting which again few do with a 410 vs other gauges so will pay accordingly. If you seriously want to sell it price it as such if you expect to get what it is worth I think you will have it until you die
If mine and I wanted to move it I would start at $750 and open to reasonable offers dropping the price as times goes on
But hey mama tells me I am wrong at least 5 times a day
