Hi I'm just looking at some "cheap" semi autos 12g and have ran across a few Remington 11-87 . I assume they hold 3 shells from factory but are magazine extensions available for them ?.

I don't know if I'd call a new Remington 11-87 cheap. Now a Dominion Arms Cougar...
The advantage of the 11-87 is it shares some common parts with the 870, such as the magazine extensions. So any 870 magazine extensions will also fit the 11-87. The factory magazine holds four 2.75" shells or three 3" / 3.5" shells. And the newer 11-87s have the silly dent in the tube that has to be removed before you can make use of the extension.
