Have a Marlin 39A golden for about 10 years. When I first got the rifle I had to rebuild it before it would even fire. Replaced firing pin, hammer spring, extractor pin, and filed down rebounding hammer strut. The rifle now reliably fires, and ejects when it manages to extract. I have had numerous CCI cases blow out at the case heads, sure hurts your ears. All case heads with CCI 22 ammo bulge at the case heads after firing, not so with Federal bulk. The rifle will fail to extract almost 100% of the time with CCI ammo. When shooting Federal bulk I get failure to extract after every 7 to 12 rounds. This takes all the fun out of this rifle. Any suggestions on how I can fix this lemon, or are there any gunsmiths out there that are familiar with this problem with the 39A Golden? If so I will send it for repair. Back when I was a kid many years ago, a body could go to the local hardware store and pick up a box of 22 longs for 50 cents and it did not matter what brand, they all reliably cycled in yur rifle and they shot, and they hit what ya shot at.

The obvious solution is to shoot what it likes. But you probably already figured that out yourself without my help. :)

Sounds like a job for a smith, if the rifle is worth it to you to put the effort in.

Shooting this rifle with what it likes is unacceptable . This rifle should shoot any and all ammunition I choose to feed it like most all well crafted 22 firearms.
