Stay away from this crap!

It didn't just snap once... not twice but NINE times! One second it was fine, the next I get an f2f with a nice surprise. My other two 30 rounders are splitting at the seams and wont last much longer, one is by eagle and the other is remington. These things haven't fed more than 1500 rounds and I only load up 25 per, this is just ridiculous.

Should I even bother calling up remington? do they have good customer support?

The vast majority of hi-cap rimfire mags are hit-or-miss in terms of durability and functioning :(, but by all means contact Remington - what have you got to lose? :yingyang:

I went through 3 Eagle mags. Rem and Eagle are identical as Rem bought them out IIRC. I gave one a little tap when seating and it snapped right in half. Sold my 597 and accesories for peanuts shortly after. Best gun decision I ever made.

Are you a 10/22 guy now? ;)

I'm still tempted by the .22 WMR offering........

Well, those Federal rounds would do that to the magazine! :D

Well that explains the 9 pieces, I taped the mag quite a few times before realizing the spring was messed up, it must have snapped the spring every time I hit it..... kinda odd

Do you store the mags with rounds in them? If so I am curious if that contributed to the failure. I have always left mine empty when stored and have over 4 bricks thru them...

nope, im paranoid about wearing out those springs, i stored em empty

There is a guy in the UK that has been trying to produce metal 30 round mags for years. the progress is very slow. you should send him an e-mail.
This is his site:

I'd been following this guy too, on and off....:yingyang: :

I've been in talks for months with a manufacturer about prices and process.I've made a decision so:
I've now sent off the final CAD data to have a CNC model made to make a final decision on the design.

My 30 rounders seem to last about 9k rounds. They would last longer but I was stupid and cleaned the lips with Hoppes #9 and they all cracked shortly after that. :( I store them loaded with 32 rounds and have 4 of the 7 I started with left. The right feed lip is the failure part. For 20 bucks a mag I guess I can't complain. Hopefully Butler Creek starts making some steel lip mags for the 597...

yeah these mags seem to be fussy about the type of ammo you run through them, my 30 rounder loves the 525 bricks from crappy tire, but hates remington vipers, my 10 rounder goes through the vipers like nothing but won't feed the 525 ammo.
I gave my spring a little bit of a tug on both ends and stretched it a bit and it seemed to help.

I haven't had feeding problems with mine with any ammo except for the odd miss feed. What I have found is that all of mine are a bit to tall and drag against the bolt a tiny bit. I was getting FTF's regularly with them at first. I think the bolt was rebounding slightly off the breach face and not coming into full battery. As a result the case would have a light strike. I had to shave the edge of the mags to clear the bolt and the problem went away. I suspect the bolt might actually be the culprit now as the problem has re-occurred with my Galil build. I'm going to shave the offending surfaces of the bolt back a bit to correct it once and for all.
