I am considering adding a semi to my growing collection of "social" shotguns.

I prefer remington as I have tons of 870 acc that will be of potential use and am familar and comfortable with remington period.

Will a sporting 1100 or 1187 gas system work well with buckshot and slugs or are they gas ported and sprung for birdshot ammo only??

Is the 1100 preferable over the 1187 or viceversa??

I have seen some sps versions of the 1187 with 20~21in barrel lengths for turkey and the like....these must be suitable for stout bird loads and buckshot??

Thanks

PS If I was to consider soemthing other than a Remmy is the Mossy or Stoeger defense semis a good go??
I can't/won't spring for the 1k plus guns(Benelli etc)....too rich for my blood!

The Mossberg 930 is a much better option from the research I have done.

I don't think we can get the SPX version but we can get the 18 inch tactical I think.

The Mossberg 930 SPX is very well liked in the states. I believe it was the NRA gun of the year!!!

I own the waterfowl/deer combo and it has been flawless in about 300 rounds so far, even with only being cleaned 2 times in all of that.

The problem with many other autoloaders is cycling the cheap target loads, that I love so much, but the Mossy has no issues there.

Remington 1100

It is a Ford vs Chevy argument. I have an 1100 and it is great. I just shot a buddies Mossberg and it was very nice as well. Very inwxpensive to boot. I am into my 1100 for about 700$ but it digests buckshot and slugs as fast as I can pull the trigger.
