Remmy vs Weatherby

GO with the remmy I just got one and love it my dad has an old bdl and they shoot the same the action on the old one is a bit smother thought

I'm disgusted with new 'out of the box' Remington 700's. Only good part about them is the action. Why do you see so many unfired remington barrels and take-off stocks for sale here in the Parts Exchange? Yes I know that there are tons of aftermarket assessories available for them but if they were such a "Great" platform there would be no need for so many aftermarket assessories.

Frankly since winchester went under remington has been cutting corners. For out of the box accuracy it is probably time to look at Tikka, SAKO or maybe revisit the new Winchester model 70's by FN. I like the SAKO's but have a hard time trying to raise $1600 for a new rifle. Its probably well worth it though.

my last SPS SS in .25-06 shoots .7"-1" groups with 90gr. Winchester positive expanding points. for all i know it could be capable of better - im not that great a shot and ive only tried it with that one type of factory ammo. all ive done to it is replaced the stock for an HS precision which, after i sold the factory stock, only ended up costing me ~$100.

i had originally planned on putting a heavy aftermarket barrel on it but it shoots well so im not even going to bother.

the SPS line is not that bad. if you actually intend to upgrade things like trigger, stock, etc then you are much better off with the model 700 that with most other budget guns like the Mossbergs, Weatherby Vanguards, Savage/Stevens, Tikkas, etc.

The biggest knock on the Vanguards is the horrible trigger.
Easily solved with a $150.00 Timney.
Oh ya and they dont come left handed either.;)

I have a 700sps buckmasters in 300wm and it shoots amazing I have not spent much time at teh range with it yet but I managed MOA with factory loads. There is no cons to this gun it is perfect and everything I could ask for in a rifle.

My Friend just picked up a .22-250 Vangaurd package from Kelly's guns for $699.99 topped with a bushnell elite 3200 3-9x40mm.....I like the gun alot cant wait to get it out to the range and see how she shoots.

im pretty sure that the weatherby name is on a howa rifle because they do there own inspection on them to make sure their up to the weatherby standard, that is what you pay extra for.

The Vanguard over the SPS. But if you choose the Vanguard bite the bullet and replace the trigger with a Timney - it can change a 1 1/2" group to a subMOA just like that.

A 7mm wby mag?:)
Ok. Im having a little hard time deciding between these two rifles: Remington SPS or Weatherby Vanguard in 300wm.

The only thing I have noticed is that Remmy has a 2" long barrel. Is this going to do anything to preformance whise? Other than that Im paying about $40 more for 2" on barrel length.

Oh fun, descison......:sniper:
