I know it's a lube and rust-preventative, but I'm just not exactly sure how to apply it; do you just spray until dripping, wait 10 minutes then wipe off the metal? What parts do you apply it to? What should you avoid?

Also, I had an idea recently. To keep moisture out of a safe, would it work to put a couple of those moisture-preventative packages (they come in guitar amps) in the safe?

Clean your firearm first, then a apply a very, very light coating of oil to all metal services if your worrying about rusting.

Decedant or Silica packs are always a good idea for cases & cabinets. Running a low wattage (15W) light bulb works even better for getting humidity out of a safes set up in basements or garages.

Spays some on to a clean cloth, remove the stock and wipe down all metal services. Remove, clean and wipe down the bolt also. Apply some oil to a Q-tip and give the bolt a light film of oil b4 reinstalling.

Definatly clean the barrel with a good solvent & brush first. Once clean, then a run a lightly oiled patch down then barrel, followed by a dry patch. All guns are test fired from the factory, so your new Remington in not unfired. Remove any shipping greese from the gun also. Your owners manual should explain routine maintance, cleaning and lubricating your new Remmington.

No cosmoline or anything on this rifle, it's as clean as can be. Is removing the stock necessary? I don't know how much to torque the screws to.

If your worried about rust or condensation, remove the stock and wipe down the underside of the barrel and action. Just tighten the take down screws when reinstalling the stock. Just a very firm twist with a screw driver, you down have to reef it down. Use the proper sized screw driver so you don't mess up your take down screw.

Don't worry, you'll probably have the stock off that gun for cleaning many more times in the future.

Knowing where it came from, you should not need to do much, if anything at all. I assume you purchased 1 of his "tweaked" rifles, so it has been thoroughly cleaned both before the bedding and certainly after. I am certain there has been proactive rust control already done, if not he is slipping, which I HIGHLY doubt. I would not do anything more than a few drops of oil on a patch and run it down the bore.
Normal action screw torque is 65 INCH pounds, again I would not suggest messing with a tuned rifle unless you know what you are doing, no offense , but I do not think you are quite there yet, given the questions. If you feel the need to take the stock off a 5/32 allen head bit is needed. Contrary to others advise , correct torque on a tuned precision rifle IS important.

Oh ok, thanks for the clarification. I'm probably just going to lightly oil the bore and metalwork, I doubt I need to take off the stock (and yes, it's tweaked [man that trigger is perfect!]; bedded, floated and trigger tuned).

Rohan you have a sweet rig, Listen to KK's advice and don't mess with perfection. If it is "TUNED" that rifle will rock. I would talk to your new favorite smith about using Microlon Gun Juice in it. It has worked increadably well for me. I had a look through my special rig's barrel with a bore scope which has seen over 1000 rnds now and it looks as new as the day I got it. Well worth checking into and throw away your Remoil.

He mentioned that to me, and I think I'm gonna buy a bottle from him. From what I hear it's supposed to work really well.
Where do you apply the Gun Juice to? Is it the same application as RemOil (outside and in?)?

I apply it to everything. When starting out with new rifle.

1. run wet patch once
2. shoot
3. wet patch
4.shoot
5. wet patch
6. shoot
7.wet patch
8. shoot.

keep doing this until your bullets stop climbing on a target at 100 yrds...they will group up when the barrel is fully done...usually 6 times depending on barrel. After that its done. run a day's shooting through the rifle or until groups start to open up....long time away....then run 1 wet patch and 2-3 dry patches and done. not a thing in the barrel. clean clean clean. It is also a lubricant that increases muzzle velosity, thats why the bullets climb durring initial application. If used as a lubricant on semi autos it increases the cyclic rate on AR's and handguns put it on all moving parts....sounds like snake oil I know, but it's true. I use it to clean, I use it to lubricate and it works increadably well. Groups are tight. no barrel wear, semi-auto's perform increadably well, cycle flawlessly. Just do it!! you will not regret it and your barrel will last alot longer. It amazes me that this stuff is not common knowledge and everyone isnt using it. :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:

Wow! That sounds like a miracle oil.
Wait, so it cleans and lubes? You don't need to use Hoppes powder and copper solvent or anything? Just swipe a couple times and you're done? It sounds too good to be true...
Also, how often would you guys recommend cleaning? After every range shoot, or after every 50 rounds or so? I'm planning on documenting every shot I take.

Thanks!

When you notice your groups starting to open up, your rifle is saying clean me. Or if your like me I re-load 50rnds at a time shoot them and run a patch after that.

Oh ok, I'll probably end up cleaning at the same rate (or when groups open up).
Do you clean with a brush or just with patches? And you only use the Juice?

Holy crap! That sounds like some kind of miracle oil; I think I'm gonna order some from HWMNBN as soon as I can. It sounds too good to be true though; you're 100% sure it's just as if not more efficient than cleaning?

Rohan, you have seen pics of my precision rig's, There is a lot of coin invested in those and Im not one to run crap through them. It works.....It works extreamly well or I wouldnt use it. I say this with total confidence, not a sales pitch. Just follow the directions that come with it and you will have no worries. Read up on it on the Microlon gun juice web site.
