Hi,

so ive been chopping off the front sight of my m4 for my free float rail. I cannot remove the pins (tried using a punch and a vice with no luck, i didnt want to wreck anything).

anyway, since I cant remove the front sight base how can i get the handguard clamp off? if got most of it removed cant get at the last little bit, so now it looks like a washer just behind the gas block.

any suggestions? I was thinking of using the dremel to cut it down more and smooth the edges.

The pins are removable, they may be stubborn though. Just give good blows on the small ends with a punch and a steel headed hammer.

Maybe i wasnt hitting hard enough. should probably get a good mallett

ill have to wait until I get another chance to be somewhere i can do this! Im in an apartment and cant smash to much for the noise.

front sight issue

The pins are tappered and you need to use an actual gunsmithing set of punches,go the riggt way(usualy ejection side to blind side). Separate upper from lower, remove Handgaurds, Take a piece of 3/4 inch wood block with a 3/8 hole drilled in it for pin to travel into. This is important so as not to increase your problem by possibly putting more tension on pins by torqing on them to the side.If that fails lightly tap sight back towards reciever and try again.if that fails ---I got nuttin??
