I've never cared to own a Taurus of any kind - semi or wheelgun - likely never will.

I'm not your worst enemy but I'll give you $ 50 bucks for it. Buying used can always be a risk. It can happen that you need to put some tlc into it to get it running. Gl with fixing it or moving it on to someone who wants to tinker

with it.

Lol i'm gonna say they said f*** it we can't keep up, i'm shutting this down. Yeeeeah never will you hear me say anything good abiut another taurus...and to think I almost bought a judge

Taurus guns seem to be hit or miss. When I've been searching for info on Taurus 96, I've seen as many "I hate Taurus" threads/posts as "I love Taurus". Looks like they save on quality control in favor to lifetime warranty.

I own Taurus 96 made in 1981. I love it, it's a beautiful gun and it shoots well (after certain minor improvements I've made). I disassembled it once to clean and inside it looked very nice.

I believe S&W revolvers are much better, but they are also more expensive. If you can find a good Taurus, it can be a good deal.

I have an older model 76 in the .32 S&W long cartridge. It is a fine shooter & I wouldn't part with it, but have never had any issue with it!

It is disturbing to hear about other Taurus owners with bad luck with their guns, I suppose mine is a good one....

I've got two Taurus', a revolver and a semi auto; had them for years now, shoot them a lot, and never had any sort of problem.

Excellent value for the money.

In 40+ years of shooting, the only guns I ever knew of that blew up were as a result of blocked barrels or ####ty handloads.

While guns do fail I think you are pretty much right. It's always easier to say a product was faulty than to admit that you were stupid.

I'm sure Taurus has produced some duds but so has every other company. A friend of mine recently bought a new Ruger GP-100 that was burr city. He couldn't get 100 rounds through it without it locking up and requiring a full cleaning to start functioning again. Had to take it to a 'smith to clean up numerous burrs on the extractor & cylinder. And the 1980's Bangor Punta S&Ws were legendary for being poor quality.

I've had a Taurus PT-99 since the late 80's that I would stack up against any Beretta 92 for reliability and accuracy. I can't remember ever having a malfunction with it. When I bought it, hi-caps were legal and I had a 19 round Ram-Line mag for it. I did 19 round mag dumps regularly and it ran like a Swiss watch.
