Very nice congrats I just joined the Smith 17 club myself a couple of weeks ago and can say it's probably my most accurate shooter...

I have had many S&W Model 17s over the past 40 years, but haven't run across any with the 8" barrels.
Nice to get it with the original box and papers.

The 8" barrel really did it for me, something you don't see very often, the original box and paperwork was a nice addition to seal the deal!

That's a very nice looking revolver. Long barrels are fun, unless you do a lot of one-handed shooting. ;) Then they get a little on the heavy side. Enjoy shooting it.

It's like taking a half step closer to the target... :)
I picked up an 8 3/8 last year that had bluing damage for a great price and its a fun shooter makes me want to ask "you feel lucky punk" every time I hold it... :)

Nice!

Hahaha, I wasn't sure if it was acceptable to use that reference, but it certainly crossed my mind!

That is a beauty Smith, a true Classic (as opposed to the new 'classic' that they are trying to fob off on the unwashed masses recently). Congrats, what a fine piece to acquire for you, and I hope you enjoy shooting it and lovingly keeping it in that great condition. You have a real 'keeper' there! TC

I recently picked up a 17-4 with a six inch barrel in lnib condition. It has the 3T's which is a bonus. This is the one gun in my collection that is a keeper.

I will take very good care of it! Gonna be with me for a long time!! I'm storing the box in a safe place too, don't want any mishaps!
