Howdy folks so I got a 10/22 trying to swap out the sights but my sight pusher isn't getting either the front nor the rear sight out, got any advice?

Funny you post this, as I was fighting for my life to get the sights off my factory barrel last night lol. As mentioned use a brass punch so as to not mark anything up. You need a solid surface to be able to give it a good smack. Bench vice or bench block/2x4 should serve you well there. Rear site drifted from left to right, front site however was the opposite drifting from right to left ( looking down the barrel) hope this helps!

If you don't got a brass punch, take fired 22 shells and put it over metal punches. I often put some electrical tape on the sight to protect it a little more.
As the guys above said, brass punches are a must. That being said, its still pretty easy to cause damage to a front sight post with a brass punch. Penetrating oil does help to loosen stuff up but it's never a bad idea to place a rag over top of the sight post, this can help prevent marring/damage. Since I started using the rag technique, I've managed to nearly eliminate any damage caused by hammering away with a punch.
It does slow things down a bit as you have to feel through the rag to know where to exactly hold the punch.

Dude! That's a Roll pin punch! Might as well be a butchered center punch, for the damage it would do if used as required for this job! LOL!
Don't take it too seriously, just pointing it out! Needs a flat nosed punch. I like the idea of sliding a ,22 shell onto the punch nose for padding! Smart!

All Sig Sauer sights are removed from Right to Left & installed from Lt to Rt.
My rear sight would NOT drift from left to right..no matter how hard I tried. One smack right to left and out it went. Just my experience
