Removing a 1910 Ross 280 barrel

Here's what the 721 mount (modified) looks like.

What "cam" ? What's its function ? Can bbl be removed w/o removing it ? thanks.

If you look into the receiver ring, you will see the tip of the cam on the right side, with the locking abutments. It has an angled top, and kicks the bolt over anticlockwise to lock.
It has nothing to do with the barrel.

Well, my third 1910 280 arrived from a dealer in Texas.

Bore was described as: " The bore is very good, smooth with excellent rifling and just a bit dark.”

This what my borescope showed:

Thank Heavens for the 3 day inspection rule !

Shipped the 28" one of to be rebored to "300 Ross". Figure the 28" bbl will give performance close to a 300 Win Mag.
Once it's back, my smith will modify a one piece 700 Leupold mount to fit and I can scope it.
