I am trying to get the front barrel band off one of my Ljungmans. It seems the only way is to remove the front sight. It seems to be stuck though. It travels with the screw halfway out, and then the screw just spins. I don't care about messing the rifle up as this one is a parts rifle that was a victim of bubba. Any other techniques to get the front barrel band off would be appreciated!

You do not need to remove the site to remove the barrel band. Simply remove the cleaning rod and the band will have plenty or clearince to come off.

To remove the front site though, for reference, you MUST remove the muzzle cap and then remove the lock ring behind it. Then you turn the adjusting screw untill the site is pushed out.

You need the Ljungman multi-tool to remove the muzzle cape. Vice grips will work but you should put a cloth in between to pevent marring. And even then....
