Removing Barrel from 700 Action

Has anyone ever removed a barrel them selves, I usualy send mine to the gunsmith. However I am willing to try .
Any advice? To a beginer JR want to be!

Done quite a few, I would suggest buying the proper vice and tools before you start, unless you don't care about the barrel and are willing to take a chance on twisting the action, then Bubba's pipe wrench works fine. - dan

If you are getting it rebarreled, removing the factory barrel is part of the job...shouldn't be extra $ anyway. Let the 'smith remove it.

If you don't have the tools it is very hard to remove a barrel without damaging something.

If you have the tools it takes about 2 minutes.
