Removing bayonet from a Russian SKS

O! I found the best one! Tell me it is not bayonet they talking about:

Uhm... no that's not that they're talking about. I could see how it'd make a difference if the screw was rattling.. but it doesn't. I can screw it back in the same way I took it out. I'm actually gonna have to go ahead and tell you you that you don't know what you're talking about.

Since I'm a nice guy and all I'll offer to save you the time and trouble...I have nice built in the early 80's Norc SKS without a bayonet that I'll trade for your Russian SKS. It is even has a folding ATI stock that I painted fire engine red. :D

Geez, seems like I've upset everyone. All I wanted to do was remove the bayonet without doing any damage, which I gather I can't do easily.
The screw is staked in tightly and the screw slot is not yet damaged.
I'll leave it alone.
Yes! Of course i was kidding saying that removing bayonet will affect accuracy. I just wanted to give a good reason to not mess with excellent military gun. But everything i said is true, i just didn't mention that own SKS accuracy is not very good and, probably, nobody will even see the difference with or without bayonet. But I remember reading somewhere that shooting Mosin with extended bayonet is changing a POI for couple of inches on 100m range

I know what I'm talking about - any change of configuration especially at the barrel end will affect accuracy and POI. So, since you can have your SKS with bayonet and without, can you make some range tests than? And give us a report. I'll buy you a beer .
I'm expecting that POI could change slightly, but accuracy, probably will be beyond any visible difference simply because SKS is not precise rifle. Also it could be other way around, i was reading that Ugo SKS was shooting much better after removing grenade launcher and bayonet.:puke:

I agree with you if you keep the bayonet removed... but you're saying merely removing it and putting it back in drastically affects accuracy. I disagree. But yeah.. I'll post accuracy tests once I take it to the range. I have an SKS that I haven't had the bayonet unscrewed.. so ill compare both.
