Recently picked up a cooey model 60. The extractor was damaged, but thanks to another cgner I have another waiting to put on the bolt.
I've never owned one before and cannot figure out how to remove the bolt.

Would someone here be able to post the procedure for me? Thanks in advance!

It's likely so simple it will be one of those "doh!" moments when I do get it.

Just as well to repeat it, I had to look this up as well.

Loosen the knurled thumb nut type thing forward of the trigger guard and remove the stock. Then, with a 1/2 in wrench, loosen the nut that holds the stud that goes through the stock. Spin this bolt counterclockwise until it is loosened enough for the magazine tube to disengage from the bolt. Open bolt, pull trigger, and remove.

Hope this helps at least a little.:p

I have to tear mine down today, perhaps I'll take pictures and post in the Rimfire forum.

I still haven't figured out the sighting problem with mine. Anybody know where one might source a replacement front sight that's higher? Or (Preferably, I think) a rear peep?

I've got a M 600 that I redid the stock on using a Birchwood-Casey refinishing kit; the factory used some NICE walnut on mine!! The metal I did with some satin black Tremclad, the whole thing looks very dignified.:)

Thanks for the vid cyclone. Can hardly wait to get home to view it. Currently north of my home visiting the in-laws and they are still on dial up here.....

Sounds nice. 'Course some pics would be better..... ;) :)

I just picked up a fairly clean Winchester/Cooey 600 and stripped the stock for an oil refinish. The metal is pretty good so after some clean-up with fine steel wool & oil I think I will just leave it as is.

I will post some pics when it's all done.

I cleaned up my model 60 that way and left it as it. Just oiled it up a bit to prevent it from rusting. Looks good, I think. I to am thinking of just leaving it.. Definately a different look, almost like a stainless cooey!

Got the old finish stripped off and a fresh walnut oil finish applied.

Topped her off with a little Simmons 3-9x32mmAO .22 scope:
