removing comp from 1911 bbl

So looking at purchasing a 1911 that has a Comped bbl.I have specific. Plans for a build and the gun checks off a number of boxes except for the comped bbl. I really don't want to go through the process of fitting a new bbl .would I be better off just having the comp cut off and the bbl crowned? Or going through the re-fitting of a new bbl?

Most comps screw on/off. Unscrew the comp - get a friendly machinist to part off the barrel (threaded portion) and crown it. I'm assuming its a bushing comp (the simplest) and not the cone type? If cone type -even easier - cut comp off flush with muzzle -now you have a bull barrel that requires no barrel bushing.

I had comps milled off. Gunnar did them.

Thanks guys. I am told by seller that comp is not threaded so I going by the fact that I will.get the comp will have to be milled off.

if its not threaded that means its a tru-bor sti barrel, should be able to turn it off but probably wont have the "standard" amount sticking out afterwards.

I am told it as a Barsto bbl from the 80's
