removing EXTRA shells from outside of SG

I've tried various shellholders on shotguns and rifles and I think they are only good for one thing- ensuring there is ammunition with the firearm when you pick it up. Most of my hunting rifles have slings with shell loops on them. I use the ammunition in those loops to load up and go hunting, but I don't recharge the loops.

BLACKHAWK! makes a bandolier sling that is pure hell to utilize.
I went with a small Tactical Tailor molle chest rig with 2 x 5.11 Tactical shotgun cards attached for ammo carry and reload. It's light, comfortable and just plain awesome.

I'll be doing something very similar when my Condor CPC arrives from Beetle Outdoor Supply. Shotgun cards and pistol mag pouches to avoid carrying stuff on a belt/bandolier
A word of advice, I originally started with a similar vest but found it:
- Limited my mobility
- Was very hot in moderate to high temperatures.
- Clips or buckles on the shoulders/collarbone area caused grief physically as the buttstock would push them into your body upon recoil.

I keep a mesa shell holder on 1 of 4 Mossbergs that I have just to remind me why the other 3 don't have a ammo holder .
1)dump pouch for carrying the easiest ,most ammo , something like 50-100rds and the cheapest.
2)Micro Rig , chest rig or vest for the grab and go , ready ammo where you need it , close to the gun , i.e. chest level , almost as close as a side saddle is , and at least 25rd.
3)California comp works strippers or the like , I've got a couple , these work great , come in 4rd , 6rd and 4x4rd,so not as many reloads as the above,but you can strip off 4-6 rds at a time for your speed reloads.

5) shorts....Only enough room in my shorts for my mag lite.

I'm partial to how rigs were run, back when the shotgun was king. A solid belt works well. I like the ammo belt made my tactical tailor. Can be run just above your regular belt, and turned around if you want to keep your rounds safe from the elements, when wearing an open jacket. It's my grab and go option for the range or field.
Reasonably priced too, I got mine years ago for $68, I think they're $80 now but still a good deal.
I might give the BCS Tactical shotgun chest rig a try though, it looks like it *may* be better suited to more action oriented shooting than the Olongapo setup.
Looks a lot like mine ^^^^ except mine has more real-estate as it wraps around the kidneys as well.
Mine's more versatile too cause it's all molle webbed, so the user can configure to their needs for rifle shooting for example, since you aren't locked into having 12g loops up front and centre if you don't require them.

Yes the MAV 1, I bought the bib as well, but do not use it. I prefer the simpler setup without it.
Plus, without the bib, the rig sits higher on the chest which I like.
It sits across my upper abdomen/diaphragm area now instead of across the lower abdomen/stomach area. It fits great and I find I have great mobility with it.
I personally wanted something that I could transition between shotgun and rifle with (military surplus not AR) by having a small pouch that could hold a lot of rifle ammo when I'm messing around at the range.
(Up to 15-20 SKS clips, 100-120 loose x54) I usually only carry half those totals though.
The whole rig can hold 80 shotgun shells or so total I think. Usually buckshot on one side, slugs on the other, and a box or two of birdshot in the middle. It's so easy and fast to load too.
Let's just say, I buy all my 12ga ammo by the flat in bulk for a reason. Lol!
I hate carrying things in my pockets, never mind ammo...so it reduces trips back over to the truck to reload!
