removing front sight on browning blr

Yep, just drift the front blade out of the dovetail and and the screw is under it.

Better to leave both screws in place while punching it out though.

If his BLR is a pistol grip version the open sights are pretty much useless anyways as you can't get your eye down to the sight line, they are really made to be scoped. If it is a straight grip version the open sights are perfect with a nice cheek weld but terrible with a scope as your cheek won't be close to the stock.

I had one scoped in a 7mm Mag pistol grip and it was a nice gun. Just couldn't get co for table with a lever action so I sold it. It shot 160 gr accubonds quite well.

Not sure where it was mentioned that the rear sight was removed?
The posting CGN member was refering to the front sight causing some
distraction, not the rear. :HR:

As far as leaving front sight on for in the bush one day. I put a 2.5-16x42 scope on and rear sight has to be removed to mount scope
 
It is a long action. It is a 7 mm mag caliber. It handles awesome with minimum recoil. Less than my old heavy 30-06. It is a pistol grip style so like one member said iron sights aren't much good anyways I guess. Although I have no experience with the iron sights on a BLR myself.
 
Thats better looky!I wish I had missed the Bushnell scope on a BLR part.I knew they made scopes, but I did not realize anyone used them.

A Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x42mm with a 30mm tube on a BLR?

Yank that sewer pipe off that peach of a gun and show it some respect by putting a good compact Leupold 2-7x33mm on it.
That's what I have on my BLR in .308 Win.
If it's a long action magnum go with a Leupold 3-9x40mm.
You won't regret it.
