Removing hammer from tumbler 1860 Enfield lock

The original tumbler on my 1860 Snider Enfield is pooched, so I'm replacing it with a good tumbler and sear from a donor lock. The donor lock all came apart quite easily despite its rusty appearance, but I cannot get the hammer off the tumbler on the original. I've tried the usual - good penetrating oil (kroil and pb), heat cycles, time, ultrasonic. And it will not budge. I've used two screwdrivers carefully as wedges to try to help separate but no luck.

Any other ideas or tricks?

Support the stripped lockplate on either side of the tumbler. Across vise jaws, etc. Place a punch of the appropriate diameter in the hammer screw hole. Drive the tumbler shank out of the hammer.
