Removing M14 Trigger Group

Hi everyone. On the Mini-14; to remove the Trigger Group, you must first operate the operating rod which then cocks the Hammer. Then you must put the Safety ON. Only then can you pry the Trigger Guard open and remove the Trigger Group. That's what my Manual says, and I've been told that many times.

I can't find the answer to "is the M14 Trigger Group the same"? I couldn't find a suitable answer with Search.

The safety can be on or off ... it doesnt matter as long as the action is cocked.

Yes. If the trigger guard is hard to unlatch use the rod on the combination tool...stick it in the hole on the trigger guard and pry open the trigger guard with it .

If you don't #### the rifle/op rod before putting the safety on, yer #### will fall off!

OK, thank you everyone. I know it had to be cocked, and using the Combo Tool on the Trigger Guard is what I do. I just wasn't sure about the safety.

If you don't #### the rifle/op rod before putting the safety on, yer #### will fall off!
