I’ve recently received a newly de-activated milsurp.
Is there a way to remove the rainbow-discolouration weld stains from the bluing without affecting the original finish?
Thanks

Pickling paste may do the trick.
However I've only ever used it on stainless....

I'm sad to say that is caused by the heat of the welding you have to shine it up or cerakote it even DuraCoat or barbecue paint it

Even shining it up then re bluing is no guarantee depending on what welding rod and welding setting used. He might be lucky and it's an old British surplus then he can use Suncorite or Barbecue paint if he wants a better finish.

Yip, exactly the thought I had, that's the best case, worst case is cera or DuraCoat
