removing rear sight
I kept on trying to remove the rear sight following instructions provided by TBDragonman but it wouldn't come out. I then realized that there was in fact a pin going through the pivot point of the sight. The only thing thin and hard enough to tap the pin out was a very thin Allen key. I snapped off the "L" portion of the Allen key to make a punch. The pin drove out which allowed the rear sight to be removed. My SKS is a 1954 Russian Tula and the pin is only noticeable from the left side of the rear sight. Once the pin is removed the rear sight comes out very easily.
