Removing Red Loctite from optic w/mount?

Dealing with a situation where red Loctite was used to secure a riser to an Aimpoint T1 (not by me).

Normally I'd have no problem taking the heat gun to the red Loctite to remove, but I'm a bit hesitant if it will somehow damage the optic. And yes, I know that Aimpoints are probably the most durable electro-optics.

Will it? Any advice/ideas?

Could you put a soldering iron directly on the head of the screw and just heat the screw? I'd be inclined t ogive it a try.

That's a pretty good idea, it'll localize the heat to just the fastener, and it will have to go through the loctite before getting to the optic.

Echo the soldering gun on the screw head only.
The heat will release the Loctite (325F and above is needed), but the heated screw might expand enough to still cause a removal issue, just let it cool a bit before trying.

The hotter the better. When you heat something up, the best chance you have to get those threads moving is immediately after getting it hot. Since it isn't just the screw expanding but also the threads around it. And since the female threads have a greater circumference than the bolts threads, they actually expand further than the bolt will

I just had a mount I could not turn screws on. Sprayed carb cleaner on and let soak in. Repeat. Softened up and screws turned like nothing
