I am considering removing the charger guide (completely) from a No.1 MK.III* Lee Enfield. This rifle has already been sportered beyond rescuing and I want to get that guide out of my line of sight.
While I will likely employ a smithy to do the work I am just wondering if anyone knows if removal of the complete charger guide will adversly affect the strength of the action (eg, when I was young people thought cutting the tops off of VW bugs to make convertibles was a good idea until the unibody finally gave out and they broke in half)?
thanks in advance for any replies.
