My father just passed away. Two of his firearms have combination trigger locks on them. So far I have been un able to locate the combanations. Hope I do soon. Is there a "gentlemans" trick to removing these? Or would I just be best to go to a locksmith? I don't want to damage either of the in anyway. One of them is my grandfathers belgium bar. Thanks for any advice.

Dave.

Three number combo's? The last numbers always a given... set the first two and check move check move check move etc the last counter... that really leaves only the first two. Start at 0-0 and go up from there. Should take about five minutes. Four number combos are rare for gun locks but can be nailed in about twenty minutes to an hour. Let us know how it goes.

p.s. Very sorry about your father. Hang in there.

Can you remove the floor plate and slip the lock off of it then?
Then you can either crack the number like CG above said or just replace them.

Sorry for you loss.

If the lock is not closed to tight, slip a small screw driver under the rubber on
the back side and there is a spring loaded catch. Just move this and the lock will open. Take a look at one of yours with the ruber off.

Thanks fellas I will give it a whirl later today. Got a lot of stuff to look after. Will let you guys know how I make out. Thanks again.

The keyed locks can be defeated by driving a screwdriver between the two halves and then twisting the screwdriver. If they are stubborn put a wrench on the screw driver shaft. I don't have any experience with the combination style locks, so I can't say if they are any more resilient.

Hope you tried the obvious first 0-0-0 and day month, month year of his birthday, wedding anniversary, house address, parts of phone number, first three digits of social security card, part of interac pin no., house secuirity code, etc. etc. ????

Got them off! Both of them were the old boys address! LOL. Thanks for all the advice though guys. Much appreciated!
