just throwing this out there i know nothing about remy's . but some one i know is selling one for 750 has a bushnell elite 3200 scope, the gun like the title says, but heavy surface rust on the muzzle from long time storage in a case, they said they paid 800 for the gun , and want 750 firm is that a fair asking price for something that is gonna need alot of tlc?

yea i was thinking the same
i looked on the gun dealer i can get a brand new one for 530 and that is bottom price
with mid range being 718.

That would be an OK price without the rust depending on the exact model ( you could by a new SPS and similar scope for that price) but as mentioned the rust may be more than cosmetic and even if just cosmetic I couldn't stand the appearance of a pitted barrel on my hunting rifle.

Think sentences and pucntuation.
"...storage in a case..." Amazing how some people just don't listen.
"...heavy surface rust..." You tell him he's nuts if he thinks he'll get that much for a damaged rifle? Off to the smithy, right away, for re-crowning at the very least. It may need another barrel altogether.

$800-$900 for a brand new 700 CDL, Bushnell Elite scopes aren't that expensive. You can pick up SPS versions of the rifle for way less. This guy is dreaming if he thinks you should pay anywhere near new retail for an abused gun. Some people just refuse to believe that the things they buy depreciate with age and abuse. If he waits a hundred years or so he might get something close to that for it on the antique market....

talked to them supposedly surface rust, the stock is laminate, i wouldn't buy it my self nothing wrong with a remy i just prefer savage

If you're going to pay top dollar, the rifle should be in top condition. If the owner was so inept as to allow his rifle to degrade, that's on him. I'd want a gunsmith to have a look with a bore-scope after it was cleaned up before I made an offer. If the rust wipes away, all's good, but pitted is a no-go unless he's willing to dump the rifle for the value of the action.
