rn-bra: Nice to have some confirmation of the methodology. As mentioned, I found myself at the range near my place on the Island so that's where I shot - kind of like that old expression 'ya dance with who ya brung'. I shall do some further testing at the ranges of which I am a member here in the Lower Mainland and will probably use the .223 out to 300m. Further than that I will likely switch to my .308's.
The rifle is the SPS Tactical and the rate of twist is 1:9 I didn't shoot it at all in the original stock (though, as originally posted, a buddy shot his - in .308 - with original stock and did very well indeed) which feels very nice but has been commented upon as being somewhat 'flimsy'. My only shooting has been with it in the AICS 2.0 which obviously improves accuracy but doesn't make a rifle the same as the AI (which btw is the next rifle I shall buy
