Sick of seeing my unusable, low-round count BCM M4 taking up real-estate in my gun safe.
I am mulling the idea of harvesting all the parts and transplanting on to one of these MRA straight pull bolts.

MRA's website doesn't seem to discuss how the MK II receiver set differs from its predecessor?

What are the differences ? Is one better than the other ?

Also, are there any common problems with these receivers ?

They are awesome and the only real choice if you want to use your existing parts ! MK I the bolt held open on a empty magazine but when you ejected the mag the bolt would slam forward. The MK II fixes that so you can change mags normally but its a slightly different design to incorporate the bolt release so its not backwards compatible with the MK I. No reason to get the MK I if you can get the Mk II unless you can find a MK I super cheap and don't mind the minor annoyance on mag changes

Thanks for the info!
Yeah, I have seen a few MK I once and while in the EE.
I have seen some be in the $400 range.

Now that know the difference between the two, I will most definitely go with the MK II.
I think the bolt going into battery when the mag drops would be quite irksome for me.

Curious, did you build/assemble your own ?

Yarp I moved my 300 blackout AR build to a Renegade it was easy if you have built an AR if you haven't built one then there is 3743074803840 Youtube videos on how to build them step by step it is easy.

Yes. The new version has a bolt-catch.
One downside to the bolt-catch is it will interfere with your fingers if you have the charging handle on the left side.

If you look closely at the Australian straight-pull rifles;
You'll see that they cut off the upper portion of the bolt-release so it doesn't hit your fingers.

Nice... yeah I built an ATRS Modern Sporter some time ago, and I still have a all the specialized tools (Magpul Bev Block, armourer's wrench, roll pin punch set, Sinclair bolt vice, etc) so hopefully I should have everything I need.

Wondering if my Magpul Bev Block will work or I should get their own barrel torque rod ?

Ahh yes, I could certainly see how the bolt release could really trip up the user when the charging in on the left hand side.

That rifle looks to have very nice fit and finish. Having an AR style dust cover would be ideal.

One nice thing is there is no semi-automatic barrel non-restricted length requirement with straight pull designs, so you can make the firearm as short as 660 mm in length with the stock collapsed/folded.

AGREED !

It would be nice to utilize my BCM's handy (and resaonably accurate) 14.5 barrel and matching quad rail at my buddy's farm as well as the range.
