"rental" ranges in NYC?

A couple months ago my wife and I visited the gun store in Las Vegas, where we "rented" some guns to shoot at their range (under supervision).
Later this week we are going to be in New york city and was wondering if anyone knows if there is anything like the gun store there?

In Manhattan there is a range, they say for law enforcement, and what not. I think they rent .22s, and it's really pricey. I think you need to a US resident too... Basically not worth it.

There are some that aren't in Manhattan, but I don't know how far out you want to go just to just rent things.
 
Thanks for the input. I did do some googling and found that the bylaws in New York, especially NY city, are very restrictive. I did find one range in the city that "rents" 22 rifles (but whats the point of that) and another in New Jersey that will let you shoot handguns - but only if you pay $200 and attend their 3 hour training course!

On one hand, they have awesome states like Arizona, Alaska, Nevada,Texas, and Vermont. Then there are other states/jurisdictions like D.C., NYC, Chicago, Massachusettes, and Conneticut plus California, doing thier best to appear like "gun-free zones!"

Sorry Uncle Sam's children, but sometimes I just don't understand your uncle! ;)
