Just picked up some RL17 powder to load ammo for my 7-08,,,,and my 300 WSM at a later date. It is supposed to deliver much higher FPS speeds than virtually every powder on the market because of the way it is manufactured. Finding load data has been difficult to say the least since it's a fairly new powder on the market. Anyone try it yet? Any suggestions on where to get min./max load data for that bullet in a 7-08?

RL-17 is similar in speed to 4350 type powders. It's a tad slow for 120gr bullets in 7-08. Barnes lists RL 17 loads for 140gr bullets and heavier.

RL-17 isn't that new anymore(Hornady printed data 2012), if you aren't finding data it probably didn't work that well for the bullet or cartridge you are searching. It works best in cases where you get your best performance with 4350.

I just download barnes data from their site. If you email they will send you more extensive data. I just double checked and downloaded Version9 for 7-08. Many loads are up a whole grain and 100+fps(very strange). But still no RL-17 below 140gr bullets.

I also checked my load notes RL-17 and 139 Hornadys... Not bad but had to compress a lot to get performance. Accuracy wasn't there, but a different bullet in a different rifle is a different animal

Reloader 17 is indeed faster than H4350 and similar powders. I have used it extensively in 260 AI as well as 7 WSM and 300 WSM. It is pretty good as far as temperature stability but not as good as some of the Hodgdon products.

Check Reloadersnest.com. They may have the information you are looking for.

I'm using 51.5gr RL17 out of my 7x57AI with 120 gr TTSX bullets for about 3070fps. (Could go higher but I landed on an accuracy node so am happy there!) 47 - 50 gr H4350 works well in 7-08 with 140's and, seeing that RL17 is in the 4350 range, you could probably go up to at least 50 gr and higher RL17 with 120 gr bullets but DO WORK UP TO IT!!
